The Pittsburgh Steelers and Aaron Rodgers are back together for 2026, and that's a good thing.
Say what you will about Rodgers, but the Steelers would have been in a real pickle if he hadn't signed to one more year with the team. Now, Pittsburgh has some extra time to figure out their future quarterback situation, while Rodgers could get them big wins when September rolls around.
But, if the Steelers want to go all the way in 2026, they still have a critical roster hole to fill. If they don't, well, the Steelers could risk missing out on what could be a fantastic season for them.
To win, Rodgers needs protection. It's a simple concept, but it's where the Steelers are hurting most right now.
Having a more solid offensive tackle roster would really help Rodgers and Pittsburgh come September. The bright spot here is that the Steelers used their first-round pick to draft Arizona State's Max Iheanachor, and that was a strong move. But he's pretty raw and may have a learning curve in the NFL. He may be asked to take on more than a rookie's typical workload with Broderick Jones having neck surgery, so it would help to have a veteran available instead. They could bring Troy Fautanu to the left, but that's not ideal.
If the Steelers can bolster their veteran presence on offensive tackle, Rodgers will have the time he needs to make clutch plays. For someone as talented as Rodgers, a little time can go a long way.
