Newly-extended Joe Tippmann has been model of consistency for Jets

The New York Jets selected guard Joe Tippmann with the 43rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

He signed a four-year, $8.5 million contract as a rookie.

The 2026 NFL season was expected to be the final year of Tippmann's contract, but the Jets aren't going to let him hit free agency.

Instead, they've locked him up to a new four-year deal, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.

This time around, he's signing for $62 million on a deal that also includes $31 million in guarantees.

It's a huge deal, but Tippmann has been a huge bright spot for the Jets during the past three tumultuous seasons.

Joe Tippmann has been a consistent force for New York Jets

Tippmann was drafted by the braintrust of general manager Joe Douglass and head coach Robert Saleh. Saleh was fired by the Jets in October of 2024, and Douglass was not far behind him with his pink slip.

Tippmann is now being extended by second-year general manager Darren Mougey, and he's playing for second-year head coach Aaron Glenn.

Things have changed in New York, but Tippmann, who played his college ball at Wisconsin, has been consistent. He's missed just one game in the past three years, and he has more than 800 snaps in each of his three seasons played.

He's also versatile.

He can play center or guard, but he became the full-time right guard for the Jets last season. He was 42nd in pass block win rate amongst all eligible guards in 2025, per ESPN.

The Jets are now paying him big-time money, and they're paying Tippmann like one of the best in the league at his position, which he is.

This new deal makes him the 15th-highest-paid guard in the NFL at $15.5 million per year annual average value, per ESPN.
