Cowboys hit with stern warning over George Pickens, Javonte Williams

Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys are coming up on another season, and they hope this one ends up with them in the playoffs. This franchise has an MVP-worthy quarterback in Dak Prescott, but so far, that hasn't been able to materialize into a Super Bowl trip.

The Cowboys also have wide receiver George Pickens, at least for this season, and running back Javonte Williams, as well as elite players like CeeDee Lamb. What's not to love about the team's chances this season?

But, don't get too hyped yet. Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox names worst-case scenarios for every team in the NFL, including the Cowboys, and he makes a point with his Dallas comments.

Cowboys get warned on George Pickens, Javonte Williams

In the piece, Knox says that Pickens and Williams could "prove to be one-year wonders." The duo performed at an elite level in 2025, but can they repeat it? That's the question.

"It's hard to envision the Cowboys offense regressing much, barring injuries, of course," he states in the piece. "However, Dallas will have plenty riding on the ability of Pickens and Williams to replicate their 2025 success."

He adds: "Pickens proved to be the sort of big-play perimeter receiver who made it practically impossible for opposing defense to commit fully to stopping Lamb. Of course, it's fair to wonder if he can keep playing at an elite level following his up-and-down stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers."

So, there's Pickens, who's playing on a franchise tag, which doesn't help the situation, and Williams, who just had a monster of a season but doesn't have much depth behind him, as Knox points out. Knox says that if both of these players regress, "Dallas' offense could be closer to average than elite." However, they were both golden in 2026, and it would be a surprise, in this reporter's opinion, to see that kind of regression.
