Blue Jays' Davis Schneider continues to ride hot bat at Fenway Park

Since the Toronto Blue Jays called up Davis Schneider with Daulton Varsho landing on the 10-day IL with a wrist injury, he has been red-hot. He's homered in back-to-back games and has continued to hit well at Fenway Park.

The Blue Jays (35-38) took game one of the Boston Red Sox series with a 6-1 victory. Schneider had a standout performance, going 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two RBI and a run scored.

Coming into Tuesday's game, Schneider was hitting .357 with an OPS over 1.000 in 28 career at-bats at Fenway Park. He has continued to hit well in Fenway Park, starting when made his major league debut for the Blue Jays at Fenway Park on Aug. 4, 2023. His first career at-bat was historic, as he hit a home run over the Green Monster.

In that three-game series against the Red Sox, he had nine hits across 15 plate appearances with two home runs. Schneider also owns a .227 batting average with 15 hits, four home runs, eight RBI and eight runs scored across 23 games in his career against the Red Sox.

Davis Schneider continues to hit well against the Red Sox

Prior to Schneider getting sent down to Triple-A Buffalo, he was hitting a dismal .127 (11-for-86) with a poor .507 OPS and had hit only two home runs with nine runs batted in.

He was sent down to the minors in order to boost his confidence and gain more consistent at-bats so that he could refine his swing. When he was down with the Bisons, he was drawing walks at a high rate (24 walks across 14 games) but only hitting .188.

It had some fans doubting whether it was too soon to have him back on the MLB roster. But rest assured he's been a solid contributor and remains a fan favourite with his signature "fear the stache" trademark.

Since being called back up to majors on June 12, Schneider has appeared in three games, batting .444 with two home runs, a double, a walk and three RBI.

If he continues to hit well, he will earn more playing time as the Blue Jays look to regain their mojo by getting back to .500 following a Yankees series loss. The Blue Jays' next stretch will be significant, starting with the Red Sox series if they want to remain in a playoff position.
