John Harbaugh, Giants urged to fix a 'mess' before the season starts

There's a lot of excitement around John Harbaugh joining the New York Giants as the team's head coach this season, and it's just like in the beginning of a relationship, when everything is rosy and glowing. Harbaugh could be the answer for this team, and since he brings 18 seasons of experience with the Baltimore Ravens, he could absolutely deliver the turnaround this franchise so badly wants and needs.

But, things aren't 100% yet. Harbaugh still has some issues that he needs to address. You don't go from being a 4-13 team to suddenly being a contender without a major evolution, and while the Giants are well on their way to that, they aren't there yet.

The Giants have a promising quarterback in Jaxson Dart. He held his own during his rookie season with the team, despite not having many good targets available. However, he'll need more help in 2026.

Giants have a problem on offense that John Harbaugh needs to address

Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report points out a problem for the Giants going into the 2026 season. In a piece published on Tuesday, he says that they have to "figure out the mess at wide receiver."

"Unfortunately, Big Blue still has significant questions among Dart's targets," he says in the piece. "With Malik Nabers still recovering from an ACL injury and possibly not being ready for the start of the regular season, the Giants went out and signed Odell Beckham Jr., JuJu Smith-Schuster and Braxton Berrios to join a non-descript group of receivers. The next two months will help decide what options can actually play and which can be cut."

He also adds that the Giants have a surplus of edge defenders. Frankly, if Harbaugh wants to make real noise in 2026, he could trade an edge defender and perhaps land some wide receiver help. If not, Harbaugh may want to sign an experienced wide receiver in free agency before the season starts.
