Analyst floats NFC East contender as landing spot for Tyreek Hill

Not so long ago, Tyreek Hill was considered one of the deadliest -- if not the deadliest -- wide receivers in the game.

He almost became the first player to eclipse 2,000 receiving yards in one season, and most teams would've sold the farm to have him roaming free.

Now, that's no longer the case. He's older and coming off a major injury, which is why he remains unsigned.

Nevertheless, ESPN analyst Aaron Schatz believes he can still make an impact, and he urged the Washington Commanders to give him a shot.

Washington Commanders urged to sign Tyreek Hill

"The caveat here is 'if healthy,' but the Commanders could use a solid No. 2 receiver and a field stretcher who is a step up from Dyami Brown," wrote Schatz. "They are currently third in cap space, so the economics work for them. Jayden Daniels is a dynamic young quarterback who could get the ball out to Hill."

The Commanders can definitely use another weapon opposite Terry McLaurin, and they don't seem too eager to bring Deebo Samuel back.

They've been tied to a move for Brandon Aiyuk, but he's still under contract with the San Francisco 49ers. Even if (when) they release him, he'd be two years removed from his last game, and there are doubts about his work ethic, recovery and attitude.

Hill also comes with some distractions off the field, but that has never affected his performance on the gridiron.

He may not be a superstar anymore, and he may have lost some of his otherworldly breakaway speed after such a major injury and a long layoff, but he's still a sharp route-runner and a perennial big-play threat opposing defenses will have to account for.

Of course, he must get healthy first, but with one month left before training camp, he might finally get an opportunity at some point in July.
