A ride with a NASCAR race winner at Pocono on June 13 may have given Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s daughter the racing bug.
Nicole Earnhardt rode shotgun with her father at Pocono Raceway after JR Motorsports driver Justin Allgaier won the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series race at the Pennsylvania track. According to her father, the 5-year-old appears to have liked it.
"Nicole also said that she thinks she kinda — made sure that you knew she kinda — wants to try to drive a race car," Earnhardt Jr. said, per Dirty Mo Media.
Earnhardt Jr.'s wife, Amy, said Nicole told her that she enjoyed the post-race ride to victory lane with her dad and Allgaier.
It's happening.

"She goes, 'Mom, I really liked being in the race car'," Amy Earnhardt said. "She whispered it in my ear and hugged me super tight. Later, she's like, 'Mom, that was so fun.'"
Both of Earnhardt Jr.'s daughters, Nicole and 8-year-old Isla, grew up after their father retired from full-time NASCAR competition. And while he still races occasionally, being at the track while watching the cars Earnhardt Jr. owns compete is their main gateway to the racing world.
It makes sense that a win for JRM is what apparently spurred an interest in driving for Nicole.
"We're driving into the driveway Sunday after the race, and [Nicole] goes, 'Dad, you remember riding in that car with that guy?' I was like, 'Justin?' She goes, 'Yeah, riding in that race car with Justin. I wasn't scared,'" Earnhardt Jr. said. "I was like, 'No, I didn't think you were.' ...She goes, 'I didn't plug my ears, either.... I kinda want to try it."
"I'm like, 'What do you mean you kind of want to try what?' She goes, 'I kinda want to try to drive a car.'"
Earnhardt Jr. confirmed with Nicole that she was indeed talking about a race car.
"She goes, 'Yeah, but kinda. Just kinda.' I'm like, 'Well, I got electric cars and stuff. We got a little track... We'll just get out there and putt around and you can kinda try it."
If she were to pursue racing, Nicole Earnhardt would be a fourth-generation driver following in the footsteps of great-grandfather Ralph Earnhardt, grandfather Dale Earnhardt and her father, Dale Earnhardt Jr.
