Brent Key and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have massive day on the recruiting trail

Brent Key has gone 27-20 in four seasons with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and that includes a 9-4 campaign last season.

At one point, Georgia Tech was ranked as high as No. 7 in the AP Poll.

Key has got something good going down in Atlanta, and the Yellow Jackets are reaping the reward of those good vibes on the recruiting trail.

On Thursday, Key and his staff picked up two major commitments.

The first came from 4-star defensive back Larry Moon from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Virginia Tech and Michigan were also in the running, but Moon bought what Key and the Yellow Jackets were selling during an official visit earlier this month.

“I like the toughness he pours into the players and the hard coaching,” Moon said of Key, according to Rivals. “That kind of coaching creates great players, and I want to be coached by him.  Every year they get better. The team keeps improving, so now is the time to be a Yellow Jacket while they’re on the rise.”

That's a huge endorsement of Key and the Yellow Jackets.

But that's not all for Georgia Tech

Committing not long after Moon, 4-star EDGE Justin Weeks from Douglasville, Georgia, had similar thoughts about the trajectory of Georgia Tech football.

“What excites me is what they’re building,” Weeks told Rivals. “They want to compete with the best schools and become that championship-level team. Coach Key believes Georgia Tech is capable of winning a national championship, and I believe that too.”

Weeks committed to the Yellow Jackets over Clemson and North Carolina.

These are two very big recruiting wins for Key and GT.

Weeks is ranked as the No. 34 defensive lineman in the 2027 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. Rivals ranks him as the No. 31 EDGE in the class.

Moon is ranked as the No. 30 safety in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite. Rivals likes him more as a corner, ranking him as the No. 40 player at that position.

Either way, Georgia Tech is humming on the trail. Key has 24 commitments in a class that has now eclipsed the Top 25 as things currently stand.
