Taylor Fritz continued his recent dominance over Alexander Zverev on Saturday, winning a seventh consecutive match over the world No. 3 in the semifinals of the Terra Wortmann Open.
Fritz, ranked No. 9, came back from a set down to win, 6-7, 6-4, 7-5, and advance to Sunday's final, his second consecutive grass court title match. He'll meet Frances Tiafoe, marking the first all-American final ever at Halle. Last Sunday, Fritz fell to world No. 5 Ben Shelton in a rare all-American Boss Open final. He avenged that loss on Friday with a quarterfinal Terra Wortmann Open win.
Fritz continues to pick up steam ahead of Wimbledon. Since the start of the 2024 grass court season, he's 30-5 on the surface — including 7-1 this year — while reaching five tournament finals.

His win over the recent 2026 Roland-Garros champ Zverev is a promising sign with Wimbledon's main draw looming. The third grand slam event begins on June 29, and Fritz could be among the leading contenders on the men's side.
His streak over Zverev began in the fourth round at 2024 Wimbledon. Last year, Fritz reached the semifinals, losing to Carlos Alcaraz, who will miss this year's tournament with a wrist injury.
The 28-year-old California native can pick up more steam ahead of his return to the All England Club with a fifth title at the Lexus Eastbourne Open, which starts Monday. He previously won the final Wimbledon tune-up in 2019, 2022 and 2024-25.
An American male tennis player hasn't won the men's singles tournament at Wimbledon since Pete Sampras' reign concluded in 2000. With previous recent champs including Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner in the draw, Fritz, Shelton and other top U.S. players will likely have to slay some giants to snap the drought.
But a little over a week before the grass court grand slam opens, few pros on the men's side are having more success than Fritz. His confidence should be at a high, particularly if it's Zverev standing in his way.
