It may not have been a win, but Curacao still had a huge night on Saturday. Its 0-0 draw with Ecuador at the 2026 FIFA World Cup was the first point for Curacao in World Cup competition.
They have goalkeeper Eloy Room to thank for it due to an historic performance.
If 15 saves seems like a lot, it's because it is. And it is almost unheard of for World Cup competition, and especially in a match that does not include extra time.
The 15 saves are the second-most ever in a World Cup match since save records were first officially tracked in 1966, trailing only the 16 made by USA's Tim Howard against Belgium in 2014 in a Round of 16 match.
Room's best sequence of the night came in the 65th minute during this flurry of shots.
The display of goalkeeping tonight has been off the charts!

Ecuador carried the play for the entire match, finishing with a 3.05 to 0.48 expected goal advantage, while also having a 75% to 25% edge in overall possession.
Curacao managed just three shots on goal for the entire match.
