Phillies' Kyle Schwarber pursuing multiple all-time HR records

It was always going to be difficult for Kyle Schwarber to match or exceed his eye-popping 2025 season. Last season, he clubbed 56 home runs, two shy of tying the Philadelphia Phillies' single-season record, drove in 132 runs and slugged .563.

But the power Schwarber has displayed so far this season, especially recently, has only further solidified his legacy as one of the game's top bats of this era.

Schwarber homered on Sunday, a three-run shot into the upper deck at Citizens Bank Park, to help the Phillies win their weekend series with the New York Mets. His latest blast was his fourth homer of the series, adding it to the three he hit on Saturday as part of a four-hit, six-RBI performance during a 15-3 victory

Kyle Schwarber now has a nice cushion for the MLB lead in HRs

Schwarber's power surge has increased his major league-lead in home runs to 29, placing him one away from his sixth-straight season with 30 or more and eighth overall. If he gets to 40, that will mark four out of his last five seasons to that milestone number.

Schwarber's 29 home runs are already two more than any past Phillies player ever recorded before the team's 80th game in a season. And Schwarber has reached 29 in just 74 games. He's on track to soar past Ryan Howard's 58 for the franchise's highest total in a season and then enter a new stratosphere, surpassing 60 and beyond.

Schwarber's Phillies tenure is historic from a power perspective

While Scwarber displayed pop before joining the Phillies in 2022, he's taken his ability to send the ball out of the ballpark to another level in now his fifth year in Philadelphia. in fact, Scwarber's bat has been so potent as a Phillies, he now has the third most home runs (216) for any player in his first five seasons with a team in MLB history, and the 2026 season is far from over.

Only Mark McGwire (220) from his time with the St. Louis Cardinals and Babe Ruth, who currently owns the gold standard (235), with the New York Yankees, are ahead of Schwarber on the list.

Schwarber has even improved on his 2025 batting average and slash line, hitting .255 with a .369 OBP and a .603 slug. But as much as watching Schwarber mash dingers is fun for fans, it's all a means to an end of getting the Phillies back to the World Series and winning it this time, something he knows all about from being a member of the 2016 champion Chicago Cubs
