Is LeBron James leaning one way in free agency?

The Los Angeles Lakers are transitioning toward the Luka Doncic era.

LeBron James will be an unrestricted free agent for the first time since moving to the Western Conference, and there will be plenty of interest in his services, even after two decades in the pros.

As such, there are no guarantees. A return to Los Angeles might still be in play, but it is far from a lock.

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, James will have no shortage of options to choose from, to the point where he's more than likely to leave Southern California this summer.

LeBron James leaning toward leaving the Lakers?

"There is definitely a lot of belief around the league, around Los Angeles, stemming out of Klutch Sports, that LeBron has so many outcomes on the table here," Fischer said (h/t ESPN Cleveland). "It might even be more likely than not that he leaves Los Angeles than stays with the Lakers."

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors have been floated as potential suitors for the past couple of months.

Free agency will begin on Tuesday, June 30, at 6 p.m. ET, though players will have to wait until July 6 at 12:01 p.m. ET to sign their new deals after the moratorium ends.

The Lakers still haven't made LeBron James an offer

The Lakers already re-signed Austin Reaves to a lucrative contract extension, but according to ESPN insider Shams Charania, they still haven't made James an offer:

"The Lakers have not made an offer to LeBron as of yesterday," Charania said on "Get Up."

He explained that they're trying to round out the roster through trades and moves before letting James know how the team might look with his return.

They've said all the right things about wanting to keep the four-time NBA champion in town for the long run.

Nevertheless, with other potential lucrative options and teams that might offer him a better shot at winning his fifth ring, James might be ready to move once again.
