What the NASCAR O'Reilly Series Chase bubble looks like after Sonoma

Following Shane van Gisbergen's dominant performance in Saturday's NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Sonoma, there are only five races left in the O'Reilly Series regular season. Here's what the Chase grid looks like after the first 19 races of 2026.

1. Justin Allgaier (Clinched)

2. Jesse Love (+179)

3. Corey Day (+173)

4. Sheldon Creed (+170)

5. Austin Hill (+139)

6. Carson Kvapil (+132)

7. Sammy Smith (+106)

8. Brandon Jones (+101)

9. Parker Retzlaff (+61)

On what was a banner weekend for Viking Motorsports as a whole, Retzlaff finished fifth on Saturday and gained 10 points on the cut line. Barring a pair of sub-30th-place finishes down the stretch of the regular season, the No. 99 team should be able to hang on to a Chase spot.

10. Sam Mayer (+38)

Mayer finished eighth on Saturday and gained five points on the bubble. The No. 41 team might be the best sleeper pick to make a surprise run at the championship when the Chase rolls around.

11. Brent Crews (+21)

Crews started second and finished third on Saturday, flexing his road course prowess and gaining 26 points on the cut line. The key for the rookie will be avoiding big mistakes over the final five races of the regular season.

12. Taylor Gray (+20)

Gray should be thanking his lucky stars for the eight points he earned in Stage 1 and the fact that his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate, William Sawalich, finished outside of the top 10 on Saturday at Sonoma. Gray was in line for a top five finish before he ran out of fuel on the final lap, which relegated him to a 29th-place result and lost him gobs of points. He's still on the right side of the bubble but can't afford similar results going forward.

13. William Sawalich (-20)

Given Gray's issue, Sawalich's 13th--place finish has to feel like a major missed opportunity for the No. 18 team. Sawalich has made major strides in Year 2, but missing the Chase would be a disappointment for the Eden Prairie, Minn., native. He needs a good result at Chicagoland.

14. Rajah Caruth (-26)

In his first Sonoma start, Caruth finished a respectable 14th. However, he lost 17 crucial points to the cut line and won't be in the JRM No. 88 next week at Chicagoland in a very important race.

15. Ryan Sieg (-46)

A 15th-place finish at Sonoma somewhat mitigated the potential damage for Sieg, who isn't known as a great road racer. Still, he lost 19 points to the cut line this week and pretty much needs top 10 speed over the next five races to have a shot at the Chase.

16. Anthony Alfredo (-113)

A new face vaults into 16th this week, though Alfredo's Chase hopes are essentially zero given that he's over 100 points back with only five races to go. If he were to replicate his points output (43) from Saturday's race — in which he won Stage 1 and finished fourth — over the next five events, however, there might be a chance.

17. Brennan Poole (-138)

18. Dean Thompson (-168)

19. Jeremy Clements (-169)

20. Jeb Burton (-194)
