The Dallas Cowboys are "America's Team," so they're always under the microscope. That's certainly the case during this NFL offseason.
Owner and general manager Jerry Jones made noise by keeping wide receiver George Pickens on the franchise tag, trading for edge-rusher Rashan Gary, trading away defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa and more.
Unfortunately for the Cowboys, not everyone is a fan of what the team did. Now, one NFL analyst is giving the team a C+ grade for their offseason decisions, which isn't great. Would you be happy with a C+ in school?
In a piece for ESPN released on Tuesday, Seth Walder says he liked the team keeping Pickens on the franchise tag but doesn't seem to like much else. Specifically, he doesn't like them trading away Odighizuwa and acquiring Gary.
In the feature, he says that "losing Parsons was also likely a factor in the Cowboys' decision to trade a fourth-round pick for edge-rusher Rashan Gary — an overpay considering Gary is a vastly diminished relative to his pre-torn-ACL self and still will make $16 million per year."
He also warns that the team traded the wrong interior lineman, saying that they could have gone with Kenny Clark over Odighizuwa.
"The Cowboys chose the wrong D-tackle to deal, as Odighizuwa is younger and makes less than Clark, plus is arguably better than the veteran at this stage of their respective careers," he states.
So, Jones is getting some shade thrown at him for these decisions. But, it's not the first time. Hopefully for Jones, the Cowboys can prove the critics wrong and soar when September hits.
