The Los Angeles Lakers are moving on without LeBron James.
The four-time NBA champion will join another team for what might be his final season.
James will play a record 24th season, and while he's in good enough shape to extend his career, he might be approaching this one as his farewell tour.
According to Yahoo Sports insider Kevin O'Connor, James is discussing filming the season as a documentary.
"Multiple league sources say LeBron has had discussions about filming the entire season, with live-streaming potentially folded into the final product," O'Connor wrote. "So even if LeBron takes a discount on his NBA salary, the money could come back through the documentary."
James will reportedly consider all of his options in free agency, so even teams with a long shot might have a chance to reach out to him.
Over the past couple of days, however, the Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers have emerged as the most likely landing spots for the future Hall of Famer.
James has already been there and done that. He's accomplished everything that can be accomplished on a basketball court, and as such, money won't drive his decision this time.
Instead, he'll focus on his legacy and playing for the team that gives the best shot at a ring and a movie-like ending.
Also, with a very lucrative documentary deal potentially looming, whoever signs the league's all-time leading scorer might get the bargain of a lifetime.
