The Las Vegas Raiders are getting way more attention than normal, and that's a good thing for once. Instead of getting in the news for bad press, like losing games, the Raiders are one of the most talked-about teams because of the potential that they have for this season.
What's got the buzz going? The Raiders, of course, have two quarterbacks in Kirk Cousins and Fernando Mendoza. Those who are Raiders fans and even those who aren't are gearing up to see these two very different quarterbacks in action. Cousins is the veteran, bringing years of experience in the NFL, while Mendoza is the fresh rookie. Who will start? When will Mendoza take over as franchise quarterback? Stay tuned.
Now, before the season has even started, both Cousins and Mendoza are helping to get the hype train rolling for the Raiders.
Kevin Patra of NFL.com discussed the Raiders' chances to go from worst to first in the division this season. In the piece, he says that Las Vegas has "legit hope that climbing out of the gutter isn’t far off on the horizon."
"Fernando Mendoza's arrival brings promise that Vegas finally has an answer under center," Patra states in the piece. "If he’s not ready to start off the bat, Kirk Cousins is an ideal bridge for Klint Kubiak's offense."
That's a bold statement. But it shows why Vegas really can't go wrong this season. If Mendoza isn't ready, Cousins is there. If he is, then he can take the field and still have a mentor in Cousins. Add that Maxx Crosby is back in Vegas, at least for now, and you have a recipe for success.
