Once considered a legitimate WNBA championship contender, the Atlanta Dream have failed to keep up lately.
Angel Reese's team has now dropped five games in a row, and their 88-83 loss to the Golden State Valkyries may have been the lowest point in the season.
The Valkyries have gotten the best of them three times in the past couple of weeks, and it seems that the rest of the league has also figured them out.
With that in mind, Reese reminded everyone that her team might be down, but not out. Talking to the media, she vowed to figure things out and sent a stern warning to the rest of the league.
“We have 5 games going into All-Star, and any team in front of us should be scared because we're ready, and we're gonna continue to put our foot forward every day, watch film, get together and figure ourselves out,” Angel Reese said (H/T MTMVSN). “Adversity builds character in the locker room, having tough conversations, taking accountability for things and figuring it out...but we're not down. We're not down, and this team is used to winning.”
Scoring has been a major issue for the Dream during the losing streak. They've shot 31 percent from the field and a horrid 17 percent from beyond the arc. They remain a strong defensive team, but they need more balance to get back on track.
The Dream are currently 12-9 and in seventh place in the league, but they have more than enough talent to turn things around.
They will have five days between games to watch some film and get back to the drawing board before a must-win matchup with the 5-17 Seattle Storm, probably the best opponent to face as they need to snap that losing streak.
