The Houston Rockets' postseason failure could lead to a major locker room shake-up.
Kevin Durant was either hurt or inefficient when it mattered most, and the rumors of his burner accounts and his broken relationship with his teammates will be hard to ignore. The Rockets may not be openly shopping him, but with two years and $90 million left in his contract, it wouldn't be surprising to see them take offers for the 37-year-old.
Considering that, ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel reported that the Detroit Pistons could be keeping an eye out for a potential trade.
"If Durant becomes available in any capacity or the Rockets look at possible trades involving him either now or in the near future, the Pistons are fully expected to be at the front of the line to bid on his services," wrote Siegel.
Per Siegel, the Pistons tried to get Durant on a three-team trade that would've sent Jaylen Brown to Houston, Alperen Sengun to the Boston Celtics and Durant to Detroit.
Obviously, with Brown now with the Philadelphia 76ers, that won't be possible, but it also shows that they were interested in getting the two-time NBA champion. The Pistons just signed John Collins to replace the departing Tobias Harris.
Nevertheless, they would probably trade or bench him in a heartbeat to make room for Durant if he becomes available. Given Durant's history of burning bridges and forcing his way out of teams, that might be the case again in Houston sooner rather than later.
