Cameron Boozer, Darryn Peterson continue strong Summer League showings

Two of the NBA's top draft picks are living up to early expectations.

On Monday, the Utah Jazz and Memphis Grizzlies met in Salt Lake City Summer League action, and 2026 NBA Draft second and third overall picks Darryn Peterson and Cameron Boozer followed promising debuts with two more standout performances.

Peterson led all scorers in the 109-100 Jazz win, finishing with 25 points on 8-of-15 shooting in 28 minutes while adding 12 assists, two rebounds and two steals. Boozer had 18 points, seven rebounds (two offensive) and four assists on an efficient 6-of-9 shooting performance, including 4-of-5 from long range.

Darryn Peterson, Cameron Boozer put on a show in Summer League showdown

Peterson and Boozer, members of the highly-touted 2026 draft class, are off to excellent Summer League starts. Both played their first games since being selected, with Peterson scoring 28 points in a 103-102 overtime win over the Atlanta Hawks and Boozer scoring 15 points on 63.6 percent shooting in a 111-74 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The two wasted no time putting on a show in Monday's head-to-head matchup, with Peterson opening the game by driving into the paint and sinking a floater. Boozer followed on the opposite end by draining a straightaway three.

Boozer later had an impressive finish following an offensive rebound, maneuvering past Jazz center Jonas Aidoo for the layup.

Peterson showed why he was labeled as the draft's top shot-maker with a crafty play late in the third that ended in the former Kansas Jayhawk making a fadeaway jumper.

After mostly playing off-ball at Kansas, Peterson also operated more as a facilitator against Memphis, displaying impressive court vision on his assists.

Peterson and Boozer are quickly proving to be worth the hype. While only two games, the two have already given tantalizing glimpses into their futures.
