LeBron James landing-spot race has a favorite after one week

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers have officially parted ways, and it's only been around a week since these two camps announced their decision to go in opposite directions, but there's already a clear favorite in the race to sign James.

A handful of teams are being talked about as strong contenders to sign James: the Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat or Cleveland Cavaliers. James obviously has history with these teams. Plus, each of these franchises has the money, and the winning roster, to appeal to James.

But, one week into this guessing game, one team is emerging as a clear favorite, when you ask the NBA analysts. When it comes to where James goes next, it may be a very familiar landing spot.

Cavaliers early favorites to land LeBron James, according to NBA experts

In a feature for CBS Sports out Tuesday, Brad Botkin shares predictions from four NBA experts and analysts about where James will end up. Three out of four of the experts, Jack Maloney, John Gonzalez and Sam Quinn, all have the same prediction: the Cavaliers. Botkin picked the Warriors, though.

"Maybe it's boring or a little too obvious, but going back to Cleveland one last time would check a lot of important boxes for James as the sunset of his career draws closer," Gonzalez writes in the piece.

Maloney makes the good point that "it's just hard to imagine James ending his career with a random team like the Sixers or the Nuggets."

It would seem like a natural fit for James to end his career with the Cavaliers. But, this could really go any which way. James seems to be taking his time with this decision, and he's having fun with it, so the field is wide open.
