Lions favorite Jahmyr Gibbs draws highest of praise as NFL season nears

The Detroit Lions are banking on the team's offense in 2026, because they really have one of the strongest offensive lines in the NFL. If this team wants to get back to their status as a serious contender in the NFL, and they do, they'll have to let their offense soar this season.

Running back Jahmyr Gibbs is one of the strongest pieces in the Lions' offensive puzzle. He's absolutely dynamite on the field, and the Lions are depending on that for the 2026-27 season.

Now, Gibbs is getting some significant props ahead of the new season. These are the kind of glowing words that can change a player and give him longstanding confidence.

Jahmyr Gibbs of the Lions told 'there's no one like him'

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN has released a tally of the NFL's top running backs for 2026, as picked by execs, coaches and scouts. In the piece, out on Monday, July 6, Gibbs ranks No. 2.

"Many who voted Gibbs as the top back were emphatic that he's the best," Fowler says in the feature.

One NFL coordinator said of Gibbs, "Your eyes tell you there's no one like him with the ball in his hands. He plays with better pace because of his vision, and then the gear is different. You see him blow by guys with angles. And he's elite in the passing game."

Another added, "He's got 39 [rushing] touchdowns in three years while splitting time. It's crazy."

It's certainly a positive thing for both Gibbs and the Lions to see him topping this tally. The only running back higher on the list, you guessed it, is Bijan Robinson.
