Adam Vinatieri to be added to Indianapolis Colts' Ring of Honor

Adam Vinatieri is one of the most clutch kickers in NFL history, and he has the hardware to prove it.

There's a selection of NFL fans who think about the New England Patriots when they think of Vinatieri. He was picked up by the Pats as an undrafted free agent in 1996, and he spent 10 seasons in New England.

He helped the Patriots win three Super Bowls and had several iconic moments.

Vinatieri actually spent more time playing for the Indianapolis Colts, though. He was the kicker in Indianapolis for 14 seasons, and he helped the Colts win Super Bowl XLI.

Coincidentally, the Colts beat the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game leading up to the Super Bowl. It was the fourth Super Bowl victory of Vinatieri's career, though it was his first season in Indy. He ended up playing 13 more seasons with the Colts.

It's no surprise, then, that Vinatieri is officially being inducted into the Colts' Ring of Honor.

He'll become the 21st honoree in the Colts' Ring of Honor. He'll be inducted during a Week 6 game (Oct. 18) against the Tennessee Titans at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Earlier this year, Vinatieri was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and he's absolutely worthy of both honors.

The kicker from Yankton, South Dakota, holds the NFL records for points (2,673), field goals made (599), field goals attempted (715), consecutive field goals made (44) and seasons with 100 or more points (21).

Adam Vinatieri is arguably the GOAT kicker in NFL history

He was as clutch as they come in the postseason, where he helped his teams win 21 games. He also has two Super Bowl-winning kicks on his resume.

In 2002, his 48-yarder against the St. Louis Rams helped the Patriots win Super Bowl XXXVI, 20-17.

As far as kickers are concerned, Vinatieri is arguably the GOAT. He's a no-doubter when it comes to these honors now that his career is done.

Vinatieri officially retired in May 2021.
