Analyst explains why 49ers would trade for Raiders' Maxx Crosby

The Las Vegas Raiders and edge-rusher Maxx Crosby are heading into the 2026-27 season together, but the idea of Crosby getting traded to another NFL franchise, even before September, isn't outrageous.

The Raiders, after all, were all smiles with the idea of trading Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens for some first-round draft picks, and they would have stuck with that deal if Crosby hadn't failed his physical.

So, don't kid yourself. Crosby is available for the right taker. So, who would be that taker? One team keeps emerging as a favorite to land him.

Maxx Crosby trade buzz keeps going to one team

Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report has a feature out with eight bold predictions for next season. In it, he has Crosby going straight to the San Francisco 49ers. It's a team he's been linked to throughout the offseason, especially the latter part.

In the piece, Gagnon said to "look for a desperate veteran team in win-now mode" to go after Crosby this season, and one of them is the 49ers.

"The soon-to-be 29-year-old is still awesome but may be nearing the back side of his prime, and it makes little sense for a rebuilding team to keep him around on that kind of contract," he notes in the piece. "What does make sense is trading him to an NFC team that is ready and trying to win now, needs edge help and happens to be located in the same region in which Crosby started his NFL career."

Crosby would be dynamite with the 49ers. But it's all just talk until a deal is made.
