Angel Reese is close to a WNBA suspension

Angel Reese is obviously one of the highest-profile players in the WNBA, because she's not only a talent on the court but also very outspoken. But, looking strictly at the talent front, her team, the Atlanta Dream, really can't afford to have her suspended.

However, Reese is getting very close to a WNBA suspension, and that's bad news for not only the star player but for her team. It's also not great for the league, because viewership goes through the roof when Reese or Caitlin Clark play.

Reese racked up her seventh technical foul of the 2026 season in the second quarter of the Dream's Thursday matchup against the Seattle Storm. That means trouble is brewing.

Angel Reese is one technical foul away from getting a WNBA suspension

According to the WNBA's Collective Bargaining Agreement, when a player hits eight technical fouls in the season, they get slapped with a mandatory one-game suspension. Then, as the season progresses, that player is also suspended for a subsequent game for every two technical fouls they receive.

Hence, Reese is just one technical foul away from getting suspended. She also has the most technical fouls in the WNBA at the moment. So, if she gets another technical, she'll get a one-game suspension, and then she'll get another suspension for every other technical foul that she receives after that.

Seeing that Reese has already racked up seven technical fouls, it's safe to say she'll likely get at least one more during the Dream's remaining season, so fans can bet on her sitting out for at least one game. Plus, it's happened before. Reese was hit with a one-game suspension during her 2025 season with the Chicago Sky after getting eight technical fouls during that season. She was also the only player in the WNBA to get suspended because of technical fouls last season.
