The long-anticipated sale of the Seattle Seahawks is finally in the process of going through.
The Seahawks announced on Saturday that there is an agreement in place to sell the franchise to an ownership group led by the family of Vinod Khosla.
Before purchasing the Seahawks, Khosla was a limited partner of the NFC West rival San Francisco 49ers.
The sale price for the franchise is going to be a record for an NFL team.
The Seahawks announced the sale agreement on Saturday afternoon, but did not mention the price.
ESPN's Adam Schefter, however, reports that the final price tag is going to be $9.612 billion.

The sale is still pending full NFL approval, and that is not expected to be an issue.
Khosla will also have to divest his interests in the 49ers to take full control of the Seahawks.
The price tag is a staggering number, even when compared to the recent numbers for NFL franchises.
The Denver Broncos were sold in 2022 for $4.65 billion, while the Washington Commanders were sold in 2023 for $6.05 billion.
The Seahawks price tag absolutely obliterates all of those numbers.
There are a lot of factors that go into that, ranging from the simple fact that it is an NFL team (which are the top shelf of North American sports franchises) to the fact that Seattle is the reigning Super Bowl champions and a team with a tremendous recent track record of success. Add in a stadium that is still considered one of the best in the NFL, and it is the perfect storm for a massive price tag.
