Justin Allgaier parts seas, wins caution-filled NASCAR O'Reilly Series race at Atlanta

In a race that featured 13 cautions and four red flags, it was a veteran in Justin Allgaier who navigated the chaos and scored his sixth win of the 2026 NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series season.

Brennan Poole led at the white flag but crashed in turn 1 alongside Nick Sanchez, who went three-wide entering the corner.

That allowed Allgaier to sneak past on the inside and defend the top spot from Parker Retzlaff, who didn't have enough help to form a run. Polesitter Carson Kvapil nipped Retzlaff for second at the checkered flag, with both drivers coming up just shy of their first career wins.

"This team, so proud of everybody at JR Motorsports," Allgaier told CW Sports. "You just never give up. That's what this team's all about."

The win is the 34th of Allgaier's NOAPS career and extends his points lead over Jesse Love with three races left in the regular season.

Kvapil, Retzlaff, William Sawalich and Anthony Alfredo rounded out the top five, with Garrett Smithley, Brandon Jones, Kyle Sieg, Rajah Caruth and Jeremy Clements completing the top 10.

Poole took the lead coming to the white flag after the field got slightly broken up on the final restart due to Ryan Sieg running out of fuel and causing the energy of the outside lane to dissipate.

The race was forced into overtime after Austin Hill, Sammy Smith and others spun with four laps to go while racing inside the top five. Hill had worked his way back to the front of the field after previously receiving damage on his No. 21 Chevrolet.

"It was fun driving through the field," Hill told CW Sports. "That was unfortunate. It seemed like [Sanchez] was trying to push really hard getting into [turn] 3. Couldn't save it. The 87 just barely got to me. Hey, we're going for the win."

Clements was turned on the ensuing restart, sending the race into double overtime. Lavar Scott was also involved in the accident.

Notable results

Other notable finishers include Ryan Sieg in 16th, Poole in 17th, Sammy Smith in 18th, Sanchez in 19th and polesitter Sam Mayer in 31st. Corey Day and Taylor Gray finished 32nd and 33rd, respectively, after being involved in a crash.

Jeb Burton finished last (38th) and didn't complete a single lap, while Joey Gase finished 37th after completing only two circuits.
