It's been a while since Jimmy Butler took his talents to the Bay Area.
His relationship with the Miami Heat reached a breaking point when it was time to get a new deal, and he went the extra mile to make life quite uncomfortable until he was finally traded.
Now, with the recently traded Tyler Herro getting into a physical altercation with Heat star Bam Adebayo, it seems that things have been rough in South Beach for a while.
According to Heat insider Barry Jackson, several former Heat players -- including Butler -- didn't care for the way the organization treated Adebayo.
“What we can tell you is there has been some level of resentment from multiple former Heat players that Bam was the chosen one here and was given a big $$ extension by the Heat and was never subjected to trade rumors,” Jackson wrote on X. Then, when asked whether he was referring to Jimmy Butler, he simply responded. “Indeed, People can figure it out.”
Adebayo is one of the best two-way players in the league, and he's a homegrown talent, so it makes sense that they have a certain preference over him.
Butler has burned bridges with every organization he's played for, so it was hard to give him the benefit of the doubt in this situation.
Then again, with even one of his former friends and closest teammates also feeling the same way, it looks like Adebayo may not be as popular among his peers as he is with the organization.
Maybe they don't think he's as good as Erik Spoelstra and Pat Riley believe, or maybe he's ruffled some feathers since getting that big payday.
Whatever the case, it looks like Butler is Team Herro in this dispute.
