Another day, and another flurry of LeBron James landing spot possibilities. Not a day goes by without the talking heads in the NBA chiming in on where James will land following his eight-year party with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Even at 41, James brings a lot to whatever team he joins. This guy defies Father Time. He doesn't play like a 41-year-old. He plays like a seasoned NBA player in his 20s at the top of his game.
Just look at the figures. James appeared in 81 games for the Lakers during the 2025-26 season and averaged 26.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 7.4 assists while shooting 50.7 percent from the field. Those are elite numbers. But some teams would benefit more from James joining the fold, whether it's because of roster needs or more of a general leadership need.
In a piece out on Friday, Lorenzo Reyes of USA Today names a handful of teams that would benefit most from James joining their roster. He also picks a No. 1, and that's the Philadelphia 76ers.
Why? It's because this team is already so close to a title. James could make the difference.
"With the additions of Jaylen Brown, Dean Wade and Anfernee Simons, the 76ers have launched themselves into contention for the Eastern Conference title," Reyes notes. "Adding James might very well make Philly the favorites."
The only downside, as Reyes points out, is that it would be a bit strange for James to join a brand-new franchise right now. He would likely be more comfortable going back to a team he's played with before. But if it's the 76ers, this could be magic.
