Draymond Green hit with bad news amid LeBron James pursuit

For years, Draymond Green and LeBron James have built a strong bond, even as foes on the court.

Green has been vocal about his admiration for James, and he even admitted he wanted to play with him at one point. That opportunity is there now, and he's actively recruiting him.

The former Defensive Player of the Year has spent quite some time with James this offseason, and he recently made a strong pitch for him to join him with the Golden State Warriors.

According to NBC Sports' Kurt Helin, Green's pitch may not have been that convincing after all.

“It’s known that LeBron was spending time with Draymond Green, but be careful not to read too much into it. League sources NBC Sports has spoken with still think all signs point to Cleveland as the destination, but other reputable reports have Miami and Philadelphia in the mix as well,” Helin wrote. 

The Warriors reportedly still think they're in the race to sign the four-time NBA champion, but conflicting reports suggest otherwise.

James has multiple options, and while it's hard to believe he can hurt his legacy at this point in his career, teaming up with the same core that beat him in the NBA Finals three times in his prime isn't the best look.

Of course, they would also give him a chance to win his fifth NBA championship before riding into the sunset.

But still, with other alternatives, James may not want to deal with the P.R. nightmare that would come with taking his talents to the Bay Area.
