Nobody knows where LeBron James is going to play for the 2026-27 NBA season, but there are some theories and a seemingly shrinking list of options.
During Thursday's Philadelphia Phillies-New York Mets game on ESPN, Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper was asked his opinion on where James will play during an on-field interview, and to also give a pitch on why it should be with the Philadelphia 76ers.
While Harper ultimately believes that James is going to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers for a third different stop with his hometown team, Harper did make a solid pitch for Philadelphia.
There was the basketball reason, like having a lot of talented players to play alongside, include Jaylen Brown, but there was also a more subjective reason.
The city is nuts. In a good way.

Philadelphia sports fans are definitely a different kind of passionate, and would probably be very receptive to having one of the game's all-time greats team up with Joel Embiid and Brown to try and bring an NBA championship back to the city.
The Brown trade with the Boston Celtics has already been one of the highlights and blockbuster moves of the NBA offseason.
Adding James into that core would only add to the excitement and hype around the 76ers for this season.
The only potential obstacle there is James may have indirectly thrown some shade at Embiid on Thursday.
Wherever he ends up signing, James did hint that his decision will come soon. Along with the 76ers and Cavaliers, the Golden State Warriors have also been a popular potential destination.
