LeBron James reveals what he wants from his new team

Another day went by, and LeBron James still hasn't announced his next destination.

Most reports tie him to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers, with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets no longer in contention.

All teams have made their pitches, and he reportedly has all the information he needs to make a decision.

That's why, when asked about his next step while shooting his "The Shop" show on Friday, the four-time NBA champion laid the blueprint of what he's looking for.

"What's most important is that I want to compete. I want to compete at a high level. I want to join a franchise that shares the same model as myself. That's like practicing championship habits every day," Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reported on X.

James proved that he can still play at a high level last season. He carried the Los Angeles Lakers when Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves were hurt in the playoffs.

Of course, expecting James to do that for an entire season is unfair and unrealistic at this point in his career. Still, he can clearly be a valuable contributor to a team with championship aspirations.

However, that doesn't mean all championship contenders practice championship-winning habits every day.

And if we were to judge by James' comments, only the Warriors and Heat might fit that bill.

It's been nearly three decades since the 76ers' last trip to the NBA Finals, and nearly five since their last title.

As for the Cavaliers, they've never been a true championship contender without James, and the lack of strong leadership has come back to haunt them every year in the playoffs.
