Eagles RB Saquon Barkley latest athlete targeted in attempted burglary

Add Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley to the growing list of prominent athletes who have been the victims of attempted burglaries in recent years. 

Tredyffrin Township Police Department officers were dispatched to Barkley's home after 5 a.m. ET Saturday to a burglary in progress call. The alleged suspects fled before the officers arrived. At least one alleged suspect entered the home while Barkley and his family were inside.

"[Barkley and his family] were home, and fortunately, as you know, with any situation like this, our main concern is the residents of that home at the time were unharmed, which they were. They were fine afterwards, obviously unsettled as anyone would be," Moyer said (h/t ESPN).

Police are searching for at least two suspects and have released a photo of a white SUV they believe is connected to the alleged crime. The Chester County (Pennsylvania) District Attorney's Office said Chester County detectives are aiding Tredyffrin Township Police in the investigation. 

"We are incredibly grateful that the Barkley family was not injured during this incident," the D.A.'s office said in a statement. "We are asking the public to help us identify those responsible by checking any home security cameras for suspicious activity in the area around 5:00 a.m. If you saw anything unusual or have video that may assist investigators, please contact the Tredyffrin Police Department immediately.

Multiple NFL stars, including Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, have been the targets of burglaries in recent years. Seven men have been arrested for their alleged roles in these crimes, and one was sentenced to 24 months in prison in June after pleading guilty. Moyer told WCAU-TV in Philadelphia that his department will contact federal authorities to determine if Saturday's burglary was connected to these break-ins.
