The Philadelphia Eagles made some moves to get their hands on USC star Makai Lemon in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Knowing A.J. Brown would be traded, general manager Howie Roseman set his sights on one of the most promising slot receivers in the class. That's why fans sounded the alarms when Lemon didn't participate in some drills during spring workouts. He was dealing with an undisclosed hamstring injury, casting doubt on his availability for training camp.
In a sit-down with The Philadelphia Inquirer, the first-round pick shut down all concerns about his hamstring, vowing to be 100 percent healthy for camp and talking about how he's learned this offseason.
“Just how to take care of your body,” Lemon said. “Just how to attack your preparation. Every little thing that them guys do, I’m watching closely. I feel like I can learn so much from them boys.”
Lemon drew comparisons to Detroit Lions star Amon-Ra St. Brown, and for great reasons. They were both used similarly at USC, and they're both crafty route runners who excel in traffic and are elite at avoiding contact, piling up yards after the catch.
However, Lemon is slightly shorter and lighter than St. Brown, and some believe his skinny frame will limit him to a slot role at the next level. The Eagles already have a somewhat lanky wideout in DeVonta Smith, and while he's been able to stay healthy and dominate at the next level, there will always be some injury concerns with players like him and Lemon.
Still, with not much at stake in spring workouts, there was no need to push him and risk aggravating the injury at OTAs. The Eagles will kick off training camp on July 28, so he still has a little over a week to make a full recovery.
