The WNBA had to do some backtracking after posting a light-hearted video highlighting a bet Angel Reese and Paige Bueckers made over an Atlanta Dream-Dallas Wings game.

On Wednesday, the WNBA’s official social media account posted a video of Bueckers being asked about a bet she and Reese made at All-Star Weekend.

The clip of Bueckers is interspersed with cuts from a video of Reese holding up $400 and talking trash about how her Dream were going to win the upcoming matchup.

Like every sports league, the WNBA prohibits its players from betting on their own games, prompting a very quick deletion.

On Thursday, the league issued a statement claiming that the post “was intended to be lighthearted,” and suggested that the wager was “intended as a joke.”

It sounds highly unlikely that the WNBA will take any action against Reese or Bueckers, especially since their own social media account seemingly endorsed the “joke” bet.

The Dream wound up winning 82-81 on Wednesday, with Reese turning in a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds. She didn’t seem to be joking about the bet after the game, posting a celebratory “cuatrocientos” on social media, which translates to “four hundred.”
