Warriors might be working on bombshell Kevin Durant move

The Golden State Warriors were one of the most aggressive players in the LeBron James sweepstakes, but to no avail.

James ultimately took his talents to the City of Brotherly Love, signing a two-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers.

That left Stephen Curry empty-handed (again) and with an aging, brittle roster that may simply not be good enough to compete for a championship. That's why the Warriors might want to circle back on a Kevin Durant reunion, according to ClutchPoints NBA insider Brett Siegel.

Warriors may still try to trade for Kevin Durant 

“Sources say the organization has not completely moved on from the idea of one day reuniting Curry with former Warrior and two-time Finals MVP Kevin Durant,” Siegel reported. “Lacob and the Warriors would welcome Durant back with open arms, much like they were prepared to do in 2025 before he and his business partner Rich Kleiman stopped the trade deadline deal in its tracks.”

Of course, Durant already shut down that possibility once, but a lot has transpired since. He was tangled up in another burner account scandal, and he may not be the most popular guy in the Houston Rockets locker room after allegedly bashing his teammates and then barely playing in the playoffs.

Durant also comes with injury concerns, and he hasn't found success since leaving the Bay Area years ago. He's left all of his previous stops worse than he found them.

That said, he was at his best when he joined forces with Curry and Draymond Green. And while they're no longer at the peak of their powers, a reunion might be the best way to add more silverware to their trophy cases before riding into the sunset.
