Steelers' Aaron Rodgers reveals how close he was to retiring

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is back, and he's with the Pittsburgh Steelers for one more season.

It seemed like a no-brainer decision for Rodgers to come back again. The Steelers were first place in the AFC North with 10 wins and seven losses. They kept their talent and added more oomph to their offense, which helps Rodgers when he's on the field, looking for targets.

But it wasn't an easy decision. According to Rodgers, it was actually going to be a "no" until things changed.

Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers on coming back to Pittsburgh

On Saturday, the NFL shared a video clip of Rodgers appearing with the NFL Network's Kyle Brandt for an interview at "Back Together Weekend."

During the interview, he dropped big news. He says that he was "99% sure I was retiring, then Mike McCarthy got hired as the Steelers' head coach."

Rodgers and McCarthy won a Super Bowl together, so the draw was obvious.

Rodgers said something similar recently, too. Speaking in a press conference on Tuesday, he said, "I thought last year might be it, and then Mike got hired, and then talked to the wife and she said, ‘You can do one more year. See if it works out.’ And then it kind of all came together."
