John Harbaugh wasn't going to let running back Cam Skattebo do backflips out in the media world without having a stern talk with him about it. Nope. The New York Giants head coach made sure to talk to the second-year running back and tell him how he felt about it.
Skattebo, who's coming back after a season-ending injury, recently did a backflip at Fanatics Fest. It's not the kind of thing coaches or anyone in the Giants' camp wants to see from their star player just coming back from injury. Why tempt fate, right?
So, Harbaugh talked to the young player about his behavior. Skattebo talked to reporters about it on Saturday amid training camp.
"Obviously I do some dumb things here or there, but I learn from it," he said, according to ESPN. "My coach talked to me, told me how he felt. I learned from it. Will I do a backflip again? Probably not. You live and you learn, and we move on."
So, when Harbaugh puts his foot down, people listen. He did say the backflip could return, though.
"When game time comes around, we'll see when game time comes around," he told reporters. "Right now, we're focused on training camp. We'll keep the backflips off the field for now."
Right now, Harbaugh and Skattebo are in the midst of training camp, and it's that final stretch before the preseason officially begins.
