Chargers' Jim Harbaugh quietly gets an edge over brother John Harbaugh

Family rivalries are fun. But, sometimes those rivalries can get serious. That has to be the case with Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh and his brother, New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh.

Jim won a championship with the University of Michigan Wolverines. Then, he jumped back into the NFL. Now, he's already being called one of the best head coaches in the league.

His brother, John, has won a Super Bowl. But, considering he's with a new franchise this season and in rebuild mode, he didn't even make the cut.

In a feature out on Monday, Zachary Pereles of CBS Sports ranks the best head coaches in the league right now. For this list, various NFL experts at CBS voted, and their votes were tallied into the final results.

Jim is No. 7 on the list. John didn't make the top 10, but he did make the "also receiving votes" section.

"Harbaugh's .679 career win percentage speaks for itself; it's a top-10 rate ever and second among active coaches behind only the Eagles' Nick Sirianni," Pereles said. "A former quarterback, Harbaugh is taking a big leap of faith this year after parting ways with longtime offensive coordinator/confidant Greg Roman and bringing in Mike McDaniel, who could not be in a starker juxtaposition."

Frankly, McDaniel is a strong choice for offensive coordinator, because he's widely considered stronger in that role than when he served as a head coach. Defensive coordinator Chris O'Leary will make for an interesting addition, as well. So, it's shaping up to be an exciting season for both Harbaughs.
