Cubs' rookie Pedro Ramirez earns ultimate praise from Dansby Swanson

It's not just Pete Crow-Armstrong that has provided unexpected contributions for the Chicago Cubs this season.

It's also been infielder Pedro Ramirez, who entered the season as Chicago's No. 2 prospect. Ramirez was not expected to be promoted as early as he was, but he's made the most of his early opportunities.

Ramirez's success has caught the attention of his teammates, especially veteran shortstop Dansby Swanson. Swanson spoke highly of Ramirez following Wednesday's win.

“He’s one of my favorite younger guys I’ve ever been around," Swanson said of Ramirez via Tony Andracki of CHGO Sports.

Andracki also went on to add that Ramirez has quickly earned the respect of a clubhouse that is among the oldest in the major leagues this season.

High praise here for the 22-year-old Pedro Ramírez from Dansby Swanson.

Pedro Ramirez has been extremely productive

Ramirez was promoted to make his MLB debut on May 23 and he's been a focal point in the Cubs lineup since then.

Through his first 116 at-bats, Ramirez has posted a slash line of .302/.359/.448 with two home runs, nine doubles, 15 RBI and seven stolen bases.

One of the better parts of Ramirez's game is his lack of swing-and-miss. He has a whiff rate of just 21.1%, and his strikeout rate is at 17.8%, both of which are within the top 50 of all players.

Can Pedro Ramirez continue his success into the postseason

Ramirez's role of late has been as the Cubs third baseman against left-handed pitching.

Chicago will face quite a bit of that in the postseason with pitchers such as Tarik Skubal, Christopher Sanchez, Chris Sale and other stellar left-handers.

Seeing if the rookie Ramirez can continue his success in the postseason will be an interesting thing to keep an eye on.
