If you're one of those people who's football starved, watching a preseason game can be a total thrill. By August, it's been nearly six months since the NFL has been in action, and seeing a preseason game on TV can feel like a drink of water in the desert.
So, what does Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers think of NFL preseason games? He's not one for them.
Speaking with the press ahead of the Steelers' preseason game against the Green Bay Packers, Rodgers dropped a truth bomb about the importance of preseason games. Spoiler alert: They aren't.
During Rodgers' weekly news conference on Wednesday, the quarterback was asked if he wanted to play against Green Bay in the preseason. Of course, he used to play for the Packers, so it could make for an interesting moment. But, he's not interested.
"It's preseason, it's not real football," Rodgers told reporters. "So if I do, great. If not, great."
That hurts for anyone excited to play in the preseason or even watch it. But, it's the truth.
He was also asked if there would be any benefit for someone like him to play in the preseason. His answer was heady but honest.
"I don't think so," he said.
Rodgers is a four-time MVP winner, so it makes sense that he doesn't need the practice. He's not going to get nervous on the field in the regular season or postseason. So, as harsh as it sounds, it makes sense that he wants to sit this one out.
