Oklahoma lands former SMU starter thanks to 5-in-5 eligibility lawsuit

Edwards is a former four-star point guard recruit from Knoxville, Tennessee who decided to stay in-state to play college basketball straight out of high school.

He committed to the Tennessee Volunteers as a recruit but only played in 14 games as a freshman.

Edwards decided to use the transfer portal to his advantage, and he found a better opportunity at SMU. He went from playing sparingly as a freshman to playing in 33 games as sophomore with 30 starts and then starting in both his junior and senior seasons.

Last season for the Mustangs, he averaged 12.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game in 33.2 minutes per contest. He shot 37.2% from behind the three-point line and also notched 2.3 steals per game.

Edwards is an experienced and talented pickup for Moser and the Sooners.
