Ahmed Hassanein has surprise breakout performance in Lions' preseason game

The Detroit Lions have long been looking for a true partner for elite edge-rusher Aidan Hutchinson. It's not an easy task to find someone who truly complements such a dynamic and explosive player.

But, they may have gotten one step closer. On Thursday, the Lions went up against the Cincinnati Bengals in a preseason game, and even though the Lions lost, 16-14, one player on the squad won.

That player is second-year Lions edge-rusher Ahmed Hassanein. He had the kind of game that could move him up on the depth chart.

Aidan Hutchinson and second-year edge-rusher could be a match made in heaven

During the game, Hassanein made a name for himself. He dominated by notching four tackles, three quarterback hits, two sacks, two tackles for loss and one forced fumble.

His moment of the night was sacking Bengals franchise quarterback Joe Burrow early in the first quarter of the matchup. What's not to love about that for any Lions fan? The performance shows that Hassanein has real potential to be a complement to Hutchinson.
