There have been many arguments made recently for the Big Ten being the dominant conference in college football.
For years, that title belonged to the SEC and the SEC only. It's the conference where "it just means more", after all. Advertising and marketing slogans aside, the SEC could back it up with national championship wins.
The Big Ten has been dominant in the NIL and transfer portal era, though. Three of the last three champions have come from the Big Ten, and that includes the Indiana Hoosiers having a magical undefeated season in 2025-26. Yes, the Hoosiers.
Indiana's rise under Curt Cignetti is the biggest story in college football, but lost in the shuffle has been the dominance of the Ohio State Buckeyes over the past decade.
That's especially true from a pure talent standpoint, because they only have one championship to boast of since 2016. That was the one they won two seasons ago.
Talent-wise, you'd be hard-pressed to find a Big Ten program that has boasted more superstars, though. In fact, in a recent All-Decade team published by Diare Carragher of PFF, the Buckeyes were extremely well represented.
Eleven different Big Ten programs had players on the list, but Ohio State was the clear leader in the clubhouse when looking at the list.
The Buckeyes had eight players on the All-Decade team, including the only quarterback on the list, C.J. Stroud. Carragher also made a case for Justin Fields, and let's not forget that it was Will Howard who was the quarterback who actually won the title for the Buckeyes in 2024 and was the national championship game's offensive MVP.
The Buckeyes seem to have a parade of elite wide receivers coming through Columbus on a yearly basis, so it's no surprise that two of the three wideouts on the All-Decade team are from Ohio State.
Marvin Harrison Jr. joins Jeremiah Smith, who very well could be the best college wide receiver of all time by the time all is said and done. In two seasons so far in Columbus, he's caught 163 passes for 2,558 yards and 27 touchdowns.
It's also no surprise that the Buckeyes own the EDGE, with Chase Young and Nick Bosa filling both pass-rushing spots on the list. In three seasons at OSU, Young notched 30.5 sacks. Bosa notched 17.5 total sacks in his career with the Buckeyes.
The other Buckeyes on the All-Decade team were offensive lineman Jonah Jackson, cornerback Denzel Ward and safety Caleb Downs.
