Looking to shore up their secondary weeks before kicking off the 2026 season, the Denver Broncos signed veteran safety Taylor Rapp on Thursday afternoon.
Rapp now joins a Broncos team poised for a deep playoff run after being released by the Buffalo Bills in March.
The move gives Denver more depth at an important position. However, the type of player the Broncos can expect from Rapp remains a question.
Rapp, 28, was only able to appear in six games during the 2025 season with the Bills, recording 26 tackles with only nine credited as solo. He was placed on injury reserved with a knee injury in late October and then missed the rest of the season after having surgery.

But prior to his injury-plagued 2025, Rapp did show Buffalo that he can be an impact player. He made 82 tackles in 14 games in 2024 and had six passes defended and a pair of interceptions. And Rapp was even more productive in his early seasons with the Los Angeles Rams before signing with the Bills ahead of the 2023 season.
Rapp's career-high came in his rookie year when he posted 100 combined tackles, eight passes defensed, two picks and scored a defensive touchdown. He exceeded 90 tackles twice more in 2021 and 2022.
A key part of a Rams team that won Super Bowl LVI, Rapp has 488 tackles, 31 passes defensed, 12 interceptions, four fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and two sacks in 93 games and 72 starts across seven NFL seasons. Rapp was selected in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft following a stellar college career at Washington.
