Bengals receive positive Ja'Marr Chase injury news after practice scare

The hearts of Cincinnati Bengals fans across the country sank Tuesday when video emerged of superstar wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase suffering an apparent injury at practice.

Those fans can all breathe a sigh of relief, though, as it appears the Bengals star receiver avoided any kind of serious injury.

According to several reports and videos from Bengals camp, Chase did receive some medical treatment, but he appeared to be in good spirits with his teammates at the conclusion of practice.

Chase later revealed on Cincinnati radio that his injury was a little bit of a hyperextension and that he could've kept going had the team needed him to.

Cincinnati could not afford a Ja'Marr Chase injury

With the injury histories of both quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receiver Tee Higgins, it can never be assumed that either of those two would be available for a full season.

Burrow has appeared in 17 games just once in his career (2024) and overall has played in 77 of a possible 101 games (76.2%) in his career.

Higgins has been a bit more available, as he's appeared in 85 of a possible 101 games (84.1%) since being drafted in the same 2020 class as Burrow.

An injury for Chase would've been a disaster for a Cincinnati team that is working to get back to the playoffs for the first time since the 2022 season.

It may be smart to sit Ja'Marr Chase for the remainder of the week

With just one meaningless preseason game remaining, shutting Chase down for the remainder of the week may be the smart thing for the Bengals coaching staff to do.

Many fans likely hope the next time they see Chase on the field is in Week 1 at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
