The San Francisco 49ers will open the 2026 regular season against the Los Angeles Rams in the first-ever NFL game in Melbourne, Australia.
However, there is uncertainty on quite a few big-name players, including tight end George Kittle, running back Christian McCaffrey and star pass rusher Nick Bosa.
Bosa has not practiced since the beginning of August due to pain in his surgically repaired right knee, and that has raised plenty of questions about whether or not he will be ready for Week 1.
On Tuesday, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan tried to ease those concerns, saying that Bosa is "doing good" while adding that he hopes he can practice in the following week.
As for Nick Bosa (knee), Shanahan said "he's doing good" and the hope is he practices next week.

A week prior, Shanahan had said that Bosa is "making a lot of progress" in his injury recovery, which certainly was encouraging for both sides of the equation.
As for right now, the 49ers coach is hoping Bosa can be ready by Week 1.
"He's doing good. Hoping he can get into practice next week. We'll see how those three days go after the mandatory three days off," Shanahan said, via Pro Football Talk.
Bosa played just three games in 2025 due to suffering a torn ACL, but when healthy, he is one of the best pass-rushers in the league.
