Falcons QB Tua Tagovailoa 'showered' in boos in return to Miami

Back in the 2019 season when the Dolphins gutted their roster as part of a massive rebuild, the thought process was that it was being done in an effort to position themselves to select a quarterback (Tagovailoa) at the top of the 2020 NFL Draft. 

It ended up working with them landing the quarterback of their choice despite not having the No. 1 overall pick.

Tagovailoa finished his Dolphins career with 18,166 passing yards and 120 touchdowns, but inconsistency, a lack of team success and some regression toward the end of his tenure started to turn the tide against him. Especially after his long-term contract extension that paid him $212 million over four years. That only raised the pressure and expectations, almost to an impossible level.

What makes him getting booed especially tough after all of that, is he went through significant injury and concussion issues throughout his time with the Dolphins, and he never hesitated to put his own physical well-being on the line to try to help the team. 

The Dolphins released Tagovailoa after this season, resulting in him signing a one-year deal with the Falcons. He seems poised to start the team's season opener after Michael Penix Jr. missed the entire preseason.
