A'ja Wilson continues to top ESPN rankings amid dominant stretch

One WNBA player is continuing to dominate ESPN's player rankings. She was No. 1 in July, and she's No. 1 again in August.

That player is A'ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces. She's ranked the best player in the league by ESPN for the month of August.

A'ja Wilson remains on top of ESPN's rankings

The Aces are 26-13 heading into their game against the Toronto Tempo on Friday. They already have a spot in the playoffs. It certainly doesn't hurt them to have the best player in the league on their side.

"Wilson leads the WNBA in scoring and blocks, and ranks third in rebounding," Michael Voepel of ESPN wrote in the ranking. "She is also first in win shares at 7.7 and player efficiency rating (PER) at 31.8. Statistically, she has done everything needed to be on track to win her fifth MVP award."

Voepel adds, "The defending champion Aces aren't the top team in the league right now, but Wilson is still the top player."

So, the Aces have a lot to be proud of when it comes to their lineup, but having Wilson on the squad is really the crown jewel. If you're wondering, the No. 2 player in the WNBA, according to ESPN's tally, is Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever. She's up from No. 3 last month.
