Odell Beckham Jr. reveals touching reason he hopes Giants do not cut him

Odell Beckham Jr.’s aspirations of playing for the New York Giants next season go beyond just securing another paycheck.

Beckham signed with the Giants in June, getting him a shot at making the roster for the 2026 season. The 33-year-old made a decent case for himself in the team’s preseason finale against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

OBJ caught three passes for 51 yards in a 23-6 victory over the Giants’ crosstown rivals. After the game, Beckham told reporters that making the team would mean “everything” to him, especially because of his 4-year-old son, Zydn.

“Seeing my son at the game, yelling, just looking at me,” Beckham said. “He told one of his friends, ‘People always want to take a picture with my dad. He must be the best.’

“It just made me laugh because I just want to show him. I want to lead the way. I want to be a good example for him, a good man. I’ve grown so much, and it would mean everything to me if I made it.”

Beckham has accumulated plenty of awards throughout his career: 3-time Pro Bowler, 2014 Offensive Rookie of the Year, and 2021 Super Bowl champion.

But all of those things happened before Zydn was alive, let alone old enough to watch his father play. Zydn was born just days after Beckham Jr.’s Rams won the Super Bowl.

Odell may no longer be the electric pass-catcher he was a decade ago. But he’ll probably look like the GOAT in his son’s eyes on every snap he plays next season.
