Caitlin Clark shares major health update on injured back

Caitlin Clark got off to a worrisome start to the season, to the point where there was even trade speculation and "overrated" talk.

The Indiana Fever point guard was dealing with a lingering back injury that limited her mobility and forced her to be on a strict minutes limit.

It's safe to say that's all water under the bridge now, as she's emerged as a legitimate MVP candidate and just dropped 34 points, 12 assists, five boards and three steals in a 111-91 win over the Connecticut Sun.

When asked about her health for the remainder of the season, the Iowa product shared an encouraging update.

Caitlin Clark feels better than ever

“I feel probably the best I’ve ever felt in my career,” the star point guard said. “It was battle for like the first 20 games for me to really find my confidence again, mostly in my body. Now, I feel like I’m just playing. I’m not thinking.”

Clark extended her record for the most 30-10 double-doubles in WNBA history, also becoming the first player to put up those numbers in consecutive games.

Overall, she's averaging 22.5 points, 3.9 boards, a league-leading 8.4 dimes and 1.0 steals per game, according to Basketball Reference.

Knowing she's healthy will be crucial not only to the Fever but also to Team USA's aspirations, as she's firmly tabbed as the starting point guard ahead of the FIBA World Cup.

Putting all that on her body can be taxing, but with the most crucial stretch of the season in front of her, the Fever can't afford to have her sit out a game or two.

Stephanie White's team has the Washington Mystics and Minnesota Lynx (x2) up next, and it's nice to know one of their MVPs will be fully healthy alongside Kelsey Mitchell for those matchups.
